Homeschooling opens the doors for unlimited opportunities to learn in the right location and environment. A location for homeschooling should help the student to concentrate on the task at hand, without distractions. Sometimes locations can help a student to learn, such as a field trip to a zoo or a government office. An indicator for the right location is one in which the student takes interest and enjoys the experience.
Finding the right schedule for homeschooling can be difficult, often having to balance homework, classes, and recreation in addition to the normal tasks of home life. Making a strict schedule and adhering to it will help to balance the workload and give direction to the homeschool experience. Be sure to schedule in recreational time as well as school work to make sure neither the student nor the teacher become burned out.
Being patient with the student can be the most difficult task for homeschooling. Be sure to make the workloads manageable, and be flexible if the student struggles to meet deadlines. Remember that in a class of one or two students, it can be difficult to gauge how the student is progressing with the material, and through homeschooling will most likely be ahead of the curriculum taught in public schools.
